Our modern world has become complicated and as a result our body’s built in detox processes are compromised. There are many programs out there for detoxification, so how is Ayurveda and Panchakarma different?
First, Ayurveda’s detox protocol is approximately 10,000 years old. Rooted in a living science, Ayurveda continues to stand the test of time. Panchakarma, which translates to five actions or five treatments, includes body treatments designed to bypass the digestive tract in order to heal the gut so that it can respond to stress in a strong and more healthy way. Panchakarma treatments are crafted to reset our digestion and detox pathways.
Second, Panchakarma is designed to gently force the body to enter into fat metabolism. We store environmental toxins like pesticides and preservatives in our fat cells. Most cleanses are uniquely water soluble. Panchakarma is designed to deliver treatments to support our bodies while purging these toxins.
Third, Ayurveda does not separate mind, body and soul. Over 10,000 years ago Ayurveda recognized that we store emotions in our physical bodies. Panchakarma provides a safe space that convinces your body and your mind that it is safe enough to release old toxic molecules of emotion from fat cells.
David Frawley stated that “life is light, which is love. The energetic principle of life possesses a radiance or light which then has a bounding power called love. We must ever seek greater life, light and love because this is the nature of the universe itself.”
At the core of Panchakarma, one can find love. A significant amount of herbalized oil is used in Panchakarma for a number of reasons, but one of the most beautiful reasons can be found in the translation of the word “oil” in Sanskrit. Oil in Sanskrit is Snehana which loosely translates to love.
Panchakarma invites you to love yourself. Panchakarma calls one to take action and transform our physical bodies to be able to manage life and release negative karmic emotions that are holding each of us back from living out our truths. Wildcraft Ayurveda provides a judgment-free loving space that empowers individuals to heal through the ancient practice of Panchakarma. This age-old detoxification therapy is not just a treatment but a holistic approach to rejuvenation, cleansing, and healing of the body, mind, and soul.

WHY CLEANSE?
When digestion is out of balance, or weak, Ayurveda states the body can no longer absorb nutrients and undigested material turns into a toxic substance known as Ama. In Ayurveda, Ama is the root cause of many diseases.
Ama is defined as undigested, rotten sludge that clogs our organs and channels within the body. It is putrid and toxic. Ayurveda sees ama as the greatest threat to positive health and wellbeing.
WHY IS THE REDUCTION AND PREVENTION OF AMA SO IMPORTANT?
Modern Life
According to a recent EPA study, 3.4 billion pounds of chemicals were released into the environment in the United States in 2019 alone. 60 million pounds were classified as Air Releases of OSHA Carcinogens.
Are you ever increasing foods that need to be eliminated from your diet due to intolerance or reaction? According to Ayurveda, avoidance of aggravating foods does not address the root cause.
Seasonal beings who no longer eat seasonally.
As seasonal beings, Ayurveda advises that characteristics of each season can build within us, creating imbalances. In addition to toxins, Ayurveda believes this seasonal energetic excess can affect us physically and emotionally.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED BY AMA?
I have a coating on my tongue when I wake in the morning.
My tongue is pale and cracks are present.
I feel foggy when I wake in the morning.
I feel unmotivated and tired.
I feel weak for no apparent reason.
I struggle with a regular cough.
I am easily exhausted mentally or physically without an identifiable cause.
I experience sadness without an identifiable cause.
I catch a cold several times a year.
I have less than 2 full bowel movements per day.
I experience brain fog.
If any of the prompts above resonate with you, a cleanse is an opportunity to honor your unique biological fire to stimulate the metabolic breakdown of food and toxins.
The goal of detoxing in Ayurveda is to empower the body to return to its ability to cleanse itself effectively. Treatments are designed not to deprive but to rejuvenate. In a world that often overwhelms us with its pace and complexity, Panchakarma offers a pathway to return to our natural state of balance and health. By cleansing the body, calming the mind, and nourishing the spirit, this ancient practice of detoxification provides a timeless solution to the challenges of modern living. Whether you seek to address specific health concerns or simply wish to enhance your overall well-being, Panchakarma has the potential to transform your life, offering a journey of healing that is as profound as it is lasting.
HOW DOES THE CLEANSE WORK?
Ayurveda excels in driving front end and back end digestion. The cleanse works by initially removing targeted items (gluten, dairy, alcohol, meat, caffeine, processed foods and sugars) from our routine diet. This is done short-term to help our bodies have less competition for resources in the cleansing process. Once this prep is completed, we work together to help the individual loosen toxins within the body through hands-on Ayurvedic body treatments. Clients are provided a simple healing meal known as Kitchari throughout their treatment and herbs are recommended to ease the transformation. Subsequently, we provide dietary and herbal guidelines to assist with eliminating these toxins on the back-end.
WHAT TO EXPECT EMOTIONALLY?
Ayurveda does not separate mind, body and spirit. Ayurvedic Practitioners believe that our organs provide physical and emotional support. It is common to experience a release. As accumulated toxins leave the body, individuals report letting go of emotions that no longer serve them.
WHAT TO EXPECT PHYSICALLY?
During the cleanse one can expect swings in mood and in energy. After the cleanse, one can expect weight loss, clarity, lighter mood and a youthful glow. Individuals report feeling more connected to self.
TIME COMMITMENT?
Expect to dedicate about 3 to 4 hours a day to this routine. Participants are encouraged to take time off to experience the power of this cleanse.
